Reduce Wrinkles with BELOTERO®
Over time, the skin loses volume, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles. This can leave you looking older than you feel. BELOTERO® is a line of dermal fillers designed to soften folds at the edge of the nose and mouth, plump thin lips, and address other cosmetic imperfections. John F. Zavell, MD, FACS offers this nonsurgical treatment at our Toledo, OH, practice – also serving Findley and Sandusky.
Since 1993, our practice has been providing high-quality care for residents in our community. As a standing member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the America Society of Aesthetic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Zavell is equipped to address virtually any cosmetic concern.
How Does BELOTERO Work?
Like many injectable dermal fillers, BELOTERO contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. It binds to water and helps plump up the skin, making your face appear softer and smoother. Like all dermal fillers, BELOTERO is eventually absorbed by the body. Most patients who choose this treatment option can enjoy results for up to 18 months.
Originally FDA-approved in 2011, BELOTERO was designed to add volume for those with moderate or severe nasolabial folds, or laugh lines. Since that time, the product line has expanded to address a variety of other cosmetic concerns. For instance, BELOTERO Volume is most effective for deep wrinkles around the nose, cheeks, and lips, while BELOTERO Soft is generally recommended for fine lines.
Is BELOTERO Right for Me?
BELOTERO is versatile and can be used to correct a wide range of aesthetic imperfections. It is commonly recommended to:
- Treat nasolabial folds
- Fill under-eye bags or circles
- Plump the lips
- Fill in lines around the eyes, nose, or mouth
- Contour the cheeks and jawline
- Fill in forehead wrinkles
- Smooth out small nose bumps
- Address certain types of acne scars
What to Expect during Treatment
A BELOTERO treatment typically takes between 15 and 60 minutes and can be completed in our office. Before beginning the procedure, Dr. Zavell assesses the skin and may even map out treatment areas using a special marker. Next, the skin is cleaned with an antiseptic solution to minimize the risk of infection. The dermal filler is then carefully injected into the skin. Most BELOTERO formulas contain local anesthesia that helps reduce discomfort during treatment. Once the dermal filler has been administered, Dr. Zavell gently massages the area. This spreads out the substance to achieve a more natural look.
Healing and Recovery
Patients should be able to return to routine activities right away, as there is virtually zero downtime. Like all dermal fillers, BELOTERO can cause some post-treatment side effects, including redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising. These symptoms are temporary, however, and should subside within one week. If you experience severe pain or swelling after treatment, contact our office for further instruction.
How Soon Will I Notice Results?
One of the most significant benefits of BELOTERO is that patients notice results immediately. As soon as you walk out of the office, your skin should appear smoother and younger-looking.
